Platform
The conference will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026, from 9.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. CET (Warsaw/Berlin/Rome/Prague time) online on the Microsoft Teams platform.
The length of the conference depends on the exact number of speakers. In the event of a high number of speakers, we reserve the right to extend the conference also to Sunday, April 19, 2026.
The main objective of the conference is an interdisciplinary analysis of the phenomenon of violence – its sources, forms, meanings, and consequences in history, politics, literature, culture (film, TV series, games, fairy tales, music), art, law, medicine, business, society, education, private, family, and public life, human mindset and emotions, and individual human experience.
We will discuss, among other things, how violence shapes interpersonal relationships, state structures, the international order, and individual and collective identity.
The concept of violence is complex and multidimensional – contemporary research highlights that violence is not merely an individual act, but a social process embedded in the structures of the state, economy, culture, and public discourse. Its presence is evident in armed conflicts and political crises, as well as in everyday interpersonal relationships, digital communication systems, and symbolic practices.
The conference aims to provide a multifaceted reflection on violence, both as a real social and political experience and as a symbolic, cultural, psychological, and pedagogical category.
Participants will have the opportunity to present research on physical, psychological, structural, economic, symbolic, media, and digital violence—as well as ways to represent, legitimize, counteract, and overcome it.
Example research areas:
The thematic areas indicated above are only exemplary.
We strongly encourage you to go beyond them.
In addition, the speeches may be interdisciplinary, combining various fields of science.
We believe in academic freedom and do not censor speakers. Original presentations will always gain interest from the Conference Committee.
